Settings saved in your browser

Your light or dark theme preference is saved in this site's local storage without an expiry. Your analytics choice is saved for 180 days. Clearing this site's browser data resets those settings. If storage is unavailable, a choice applies to the current page only.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics 4 helps us understand visits to this publication only if you choose Accept analytics. No Google Analytics script or collection request loads before acceptance. Rejecting analytics keeps every public story and site feature available.

After acceptance, Analytics receives page views, recognized public page paths, the referring website's origin, and browser/device information. We use a fixed publication title. We do not send search words, URL query strings or fragments, article headlines or bodies, email addresses, contact messages, user IDs, or other reader-provided text.

Google receives technical information such as your IP address when its service is used. First-party _ga and _ga_* cookies distinguish browsers and sessions. They expire after 180 days without extending the period on each visit. Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled. Automatic enhanced measurement is disabled in the publication's stream.

Use Cookie preferences in the footer to change your choice. Withdrawing consent stops collection, removes accessible Analytics cookies and reloads a page that loaded the Google tag. It does not delete information Google already received. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals keep analytics off even after an acceptance.

Website requests and external services

The public website is served from OVHcloud. Its hosting and network providers receive technical request information needed to serve the site, such as IP addresses and requested URLs. Search/filter URLs can contain your search words when opened or reloaded; that address reaches the hosting provider even though it is excluded from Analytics.

Newsroom editing uses separate Ghost services. Existing Netlify Identity and Git Gateway services remain for the older editorial login flow. This analytics integration does not instrument either editor, sign-in tokens or private draft previews.

External source links and Google's services have their own privacy practices. No public contact mailbox or newsletter signup is available yet. Provider request-log retention and a public privacy enquiry channel have not been separately specified.
